The Alys Foundation invites artists from around the world to submit original artwork for the Eighth Annual Digital Graffiti Festival, the world’s first projection art festival held in Alys Beach on Scenic Highway 30A in Northwest Florida’s South Walton county.

For three evenings, Alys Beach opens its doors, courtyards, and pedestrian paths to innovative artists who transform the entire resort town into a living work of art. The juried festival explores ways in which art, design and technology interact with the distinctive architecture of Alys Beach to create new forms of expression.

For this year’s festival, to be held June 4–6, 2015, selected finalists will have their work projected at the event and will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes, including a $5,000 “Best of Show” award.

Last year, 29 artists representing 24 cities in 12 countries on four different continents competed during Digital Graffiti 2014 at Alys Beach. A panel of judges awarded prizes to seven winners hailing from Brussels, Canada, Portugal, France, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, India and 10 different cities throughout the US.

Curator Brett Phares is a visual artist working in computer visualization and installation. With 20-plus years in interactive media, he has created innovative projects for some prominent international brands. He has an MFA from Hunter College in Integrated Media Arts, and an MA in Art History Theory and Criticism from SUNY Stony Brook. He has shown in North America and in Asia, including the Chelsea Art Museum, London Museum (ONT, CA) and SIGGRAPH.

This one-of-a-kind juried festival allows digital artists to explore how their fluid forms intersect with technology and wrap the architecture of Alys Beach to create entirely new art forms. Guests who attend Digital Graffiti are able to view and at times, participate in, these installments experiencing some of the latest trends in digital art and technology.

Digital Graffiti has refined its offerings to include experimental cinema, animated shorts, generative and procedural art.

The deadline for submissions is March 16, 2015.
