As you hopefully know by now, the first international airport to be built in the U.S. in 40 years is inching closer and closer to completion, just 14 miles from Alys Beach. New direct flights should be touching down as early as next summer!
The airport Board will meet again on on September 22, 2009, at which time they will begin contemplating the airport's official name (from a list of suggestions compiled from input from public sources).
As of September 3rd, the project was said to be "90% complete with 76% of the contract utilized," meaning that they're doing fantastic job with the budget. The terminal is said to be over 5o% complete.
