The Florida Green Building Coalition, FGBC, has awarded eight Alys Beach condominium residences, located within the property’s mixed-use building The Lucian, recipients of the Platinum certification.
Designed by Khoury & Vogt Architects, four of the eight condominiums, Lucian Units # 201, 202, 203, and 301 were named Finalists in FGBC’s Highest Scoring Green Multi-Family award category, with Lucian Unit #202’s 230 Platinum score earning Florida Green Building Coalition’s top 2017 multi-family score, and Alys Beach Lucian Development LLL acclaimed as FGBC’s 2017 Multi-Family Builder of the Year.
“Since the founding of Alys Beach in 2004, we’ve made it a priority to build homes that not only can withstand the Gulf weather conditions, but are also responsibly made,” Marieanne Khoury-Vogt, of Khoury & Vogt Architects, says. “The Lucian condominiums follow those same high standards for construction, and this recognition from the Florida Green Building Coalition underscores that commitment.”
In order to obtain residential green certification from the coalition, architects and builders must reach beyond the standard minimum requirements. The Florida Green Building Coalition uses independent third-party experts to review and evaluate a home’s design and construction in critical areas such as energy performance, water conservation, site conditions, healthy home environment, materials, and disaster mitigation.
Winners were announced at the annual Florida Green Building Coalition’s Awards Luncheon held in downtown Orlando on March 23, 2018.
